Spending time with grandparents is always SO WONDERFUL!  Wee One is one lucky wee one!

I read this quote to mean beautifying things, not only in the “physical beauty” sense, but in living a life that is kind and honest and full of grace….helping to ensure that those around me are content, and happy, and feel cherished….

The features of the week are:

I had no idea Wee One would like these cups as much as she does.

Green Sprouts Stacking Cups

They’re inexpensive, and she loves to watch us stack them, or chew on them on her own.

I adore one-piece rompers/outfits for Wee One.  It makes the decision of “what to wear” quite easy, and they are SO cute, too!

The rompers we’ve had for Wee One so far are mainly from Old Navy…they are long-sleeved, with hoods.  However, I saw this at the Gap, and thought it was aDORable for spring!  (I think they paired it with a little jean jacket.  I mean, how cute is THAT?)

SUCH a neat idea…make a mold of your pet’s paw print, and form into some sort of accessory.

Paw Print Accessory

This is made as a necklace, but I also think could make a great keychain or something….

We are visiting relatives, so this weekend’s to-do list includes:

1.  Baking!

2.  Visiting with family

3.  Date night

Regular features are:

February 17, 2012 is…

Random Acts of Kindness Day

What a wonderful celebration!  An entire day to do something kind and fun for others….oooh!

Wee One’s Nana got her some books for Valentine’s Day, and this was one of them.

Fox in Socks

By Dr. Seuss

I had never read this before (shocking, I know!), and it almost made me chuckle out loud!!  Love it!

Oh, musicals are SO FUN.  I saw Bye, Bye Birdie when I was a Wee One, and am such a big fan.

Put On A Happy Face

Gray skies are gonna clear up,
Put on a happy face!
Brush off the clouds and cheer up,
Put on a happy face!

Take off that gloomy mask of tragedy,
It’s not your style.
You’ll look so good that you’ll be glad ya decided to smile!

Pick out a pleasant outlook,
Stick out that noble chin,
Wipe off that full-of-doubt look,
Slap on a happy grin!

And spread sunshine all over the place, just
Put on a happy face!

Put on a happy face!

Put on a happy face!

And if you’re feeling cross and bickerish
Don’t sit and whine.
Think of banana splits and licorice,
And you’ll feel fine!

I knew a girl so gloomy,
She’d never laugh or sing,
SHe wouldn’t listen to me,
Now she’s a mean old thing!

So spread sunshine all over the place, just
Put on a happy face!

Sung by Dick Van Dyke…SO awesome!

In the fall and winter months, I often crave a warm bowl of savory goodness, with a slice or two of crusty bread or toast alongside.  This fall we were on the west coast for work, and this winter has been UNSEASONABLY warm, so we haven’t had THAT many days when I’ve just wanted to curl up with soup or stew.  However, this recipe looks DELICIOUS, and I hope to have a day like that soon, so I can make this!

Actually…why wait for a bitterly cold or snowy day?  (After all, we may not get another one this year!)  I think I’ll make this when we get back from our trip!

Oh my!  Wee One laughed a lot while The Mister did these with her…

Leg stretches

She especially liked doing the splits!

Rap and Opera….I sort of like both, but I know people who are adamantly opposed to them, and refuse to listen to either genre!

Why Do People Hate Rap And Opera? By Tom Huizenga

Opera and rap take work to appreciate — perhaps more effort than many of today’s music consumers are willing to expend. In an age when more and more music is available to anyone’s ears, are we turning into lazy listeners? Is it too easy to download too much, to acquire everything but actually hear nothing? Does any time remain to fully appreciate a complete hip-hop album, let alone an entire opera? It also takes work to enjoy music that’s as in-your-face as opera and rap are. With all the melodrama, social consciousness, violence and intense vocal styles, they certainly are not musical wallpaper.

Pilates “Swimming”

(from prevention.com)

Targets: Whole body

Get Started:
1) Lie on your stomach with your arms extended in front of you. Legs are straight and squeezed together. Squeeze your butt and abs and imagine you’re drawing everything into your belly button.

2) Keeping your legs on the floor, lift your upper chest and flutter your arms up and down like you’re swimming. Do this for 10 breaths and bring your head and arms back down to the floor.

Make It Harder:
Lying on your stomach, keep your arms and head down. You can use your hands as a resting spot for your forehead. Lift your legs and kick them up and down without touching the ground. Do this for 10 breaths.

Try the Challenge:
1) Lying on your stomach, this time lift your arms and legs simultaneously and alternately kick the legs and arms like you’re swimming.

2) Continue until you’ve inhaled and exhaled for 5 seconds, then release. Do 3 sets. Eventually work your way up to minute.

I am definitely NOT the world’s best decorator, so I definitely admire people who are good at this.

Even something as simple as a wreath can really spruce up a bare wall.

A site with the categories home, family, food, life, and fun…um….WONDERFUL!  🙂
